Detroit Show: Redesigned Lexus LS to Make Debut at NAIAS

— Lexus said its redesigned LS luxury sedan, set to hit showrooms in late 2006, will make its official debut on January 8 at the Detroit auto show.

In effect, the car made a debut of sorts at this fall's Tokyo auto show when Lexus pulled the covers off the Lexus LF-Sh, or Lexus flagship sedan concept car. The nomenclature on the new fourth-generation flagship is expected to be LS 460, but Lexus has not yet confirmed that.
The concept featured all-wheel drive and Lexus described the power unit as a gas V8 with an electric motor. The concept is about 1.5 inches longer and wider than the current LS 430.

In a statement on Thursday, the company only hinted at what to expect in Detroit, saying, "The LS will set impressive new standards in design, styling, engineering, safety and performance."
