2008 Buick Enclave Ready for Production
LOS ANGELES — After its initial concept debut last January in Detroit, the 2008 Buick Enclave will be shown in final production trim this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Enclave, which goes on sale next summer, must cover a lot of turf for Buick. The full-size, eight-passenger crossover ultimately will replace not one but three vehicles: the Terraza minivan, the Rendezvous crossover and the Rainier sport-utility vehicle.
General Manager Steve Shannon describes the Enclave as "the new face of Buick" and says the vehicle's emphasis on luxury, technology, comfort and craftsmanship are "hallmark traits of future Buicks."
A companion to the new GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook, the '08 Enclave will be offered in CX and CXL trim levels, in front- and all-wheel drive. The only powertrain team harnesses a 275-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Among the features are a power liftgate, sliding second-row seats, a DVD-based rear-seat entertainment system, ultrasonic rear park assist and a rear backup camera.
Safety equipment includes ABS, stability control, traction control and six standard airbags.
