TVR fans take on London

More than 300 TVR owners will drive their cars in a parade around London this week in protest at the mass sacking of the firm's British workers.

TVR The parade, which starts at the Ace Cafe on the North Circular at 1pm on Sunday, will take in Marble Arch, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park Corner. The event is also expected to set a Guinness World Record for the largest parade of single marque cars.

Earlier this month, TVR laid off 158 workers from its Blackpool factory, just two months after confirming it would stay in the area permanently. The company's treatment of its workers has gained widespread condemnation.

"TVR is the last major manufacturer of true, race-bred sports cars left in Great Britain," says Dave Chant, organiser of the parade. "The skills and craftsmanship of the people who build these machines will be lost for ever if production is moved abroad."

And here's hoping that all the cars make it around London.
