2007 New York Auto Show: 2008 Suzuki SX4 Will Make North American Debut

BREA, Calif. — American Suzuki Motor confirmed this week that it will take the wraps off the North American version of the 2008 SX4 sedan at the New York International Auto Show in April. The Europe-spec version of the SX4 was unveiled earlier this week at the Geneva auto show.

The SX4 is positioned to butt heads with the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla in the States. The U.S.-bound SX4 will be outfitted with a 143-horsepower 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine linked to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission. It will hit showrooms in the fall. Pricing has not yet been announced.

The '08 SX4 rides on a 98.4-inch wheelbase and has an overall length of 176.8 inches. Exterior styling is characterized by a high roof line, while the cabin gets a rounded dashboard.
