Sixties chic: the Vandenbrink GTO

We saw drawings of the 599 GTB-derived GTO back in May and while we were impressed with its faithful recreation of the 60s icon, we have to admit we were sceptical that it'd ever reach the road.
But Dutchman Michiel van den Brink has confirmed that the GTO is indeed set to hit production early next year - though he'll only be building five of them.

Vandenbrink GTOVandenbrink GTO2Vandenbrink GTO3Time to party like it's 1962: the Vandenbrink GTO is set to enter production and evoke all those happy tri-nostrilled memories of the original Ferrari 250 GTO.

The first deliveries of the GTO are due to reach customers in 2009, with two versions available: the 599 GTO and 630 GTO. Both take the 599 GTB as a donor car and, courtesy of race tuners Edo Competition, boost up the power.

The 599 GTO retains the GTB's six-litre V12 but gets an extra 39bhp, taking overall output to an impressive 650bhp.
The 630 GTO is even more potent: the V12 has been bored out to 6.3 litres, meaning that power stands at 750bhp.That's good for a 0-62mph time of just 3.4 seconds, and a top speed of 218mph, which makes the 630 GTO a fraction quicker than even the Ferrari Enzo.
Predictably, it ain't cheap. A fully specced 630 GTO will set you back some £875,000, including the base 599 GTB that you'll need to hand over for Vandenbrink to cut to pieces.

Or you could always opt for one of those classy 250 GTO replica kits to stick onto a Datsun 240Z. Your choice.
