Renault Megane Renaultsport dCi 175

Renault has been shaking its ass when it comes to adding models to its hot hatch range.
The latest addition is the Megane Renaultsport dCi 175.

Yep, you read that right. It's a diesel hot hatch with a 175bhp, 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine.

More important is the 267lb ft of torque, which helps the car see off 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds and hit 137mph.

Not that impressive compared with the petrol-powered 225 model, but that torque means the dCi model is swifter from 50- to 75mph in second gear, so traffic light GPs are there for the taking.

All the usual Megane Renaultsport tweaks are present and correct, with lower, stiffer suspension and 17in alloy wheels.

Prices start at £18,950, while the better equipped £20,350 Lux model adds 18in alloys, climate control and leather seats.
