VW Eos: Photos and info on VW's hard-top convertible

Ok, here is one nice previews of the VW Eos, although a bit short. Enjoy !

vw eosvw eos 2vw eos 3vw eos 4vw eos 5There's tremendous excitement around Volkswagen's Eos convertible which is set to hit showrooms in time for summer.

With its hard-top roof, the Eos combines the best of both a coupe and convertible. VW calls the five-section roof a CSC (coupe, sunroof, convertible).

When open, the roof is totally hidden, folded into the rear of the body.

When closed, the roof forms an arc and the lines of an elegant coupe.

Also, when closed, the roof acts as a sunroof, with glass that slides and tilts open.

It takes 25 seconds for the Eos' roof to go from closed to open, a bit longer than VW's other convertible, the Beetle, which takes 13 seconds for its fabric top.

There are many advantages to using this special type of hard-top roof instead of a conventional fabric roof, such as a quieter interior, better weather protection, and less appeal to vandals when closed. As well, the roof allows the windshield frame to be shorter so it doesn't protrude much into the passenger compartment, allowing more blue sky to flow in and making getting in and out easier.

Standard features of the Eos include electronic easy-entry seats, pop-up roll-over protection, 16-inch alloy wheels and foglights. Options include a Dynaudio sound system and steerable bi-xenon headlights.
