Seat gets into a flap

They're getting all happy-flappy over at Seat now they've wrapped up the British Touring Car Championship manufacturer's prize.
To celebrate, the Spaniards have added the DSG gearbox as an option for the Leon and Altea T FSI FR models.

That's a lot of letters, so let's break 'em down.

The DSG is a dual-shift gearbox that uses two clutches instead of one to make super-quick changes at the touch of a steering column-mounted paddle. Better known as a 'flappy-paddle thingy' or a Huddersfield.

Of course, the T means the turbo, which is attached to the 197bhp 2.0-litre engine, while FSI refers to the engine's fuel injection.

Still with us? Right, FR stands for Formula Racing, which is Seat's way of saying it's a warmed-up version in the range.

The bottom line is both the Leon and Altea DSG models are 0.1 seconds quicker from 0-62mph but have identical top speeds to their manual gearbox counterparts.

The Leon will relieve you of £17,895 and the Altea £18,195, which means the DSG 'box adds £900 to the price of a standard model.
