BMW X5 tri turbo diesel engine

One of today's rumors say that BMW will launch a new tri-turbo diesel engine which will equip a performance version of the BMW X5. The new BMW tri-turbo diesel engine is based on the current 6-cylinder unit and will develop around 350 hp. This means the BMW X5 Performance Diesel that will be powered by the new tri-turbo diesel engine all offer decent performance with a low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions level.

Besides the new engine, the BMW X5 Performance Diesel will also be fitted with Start / Stop technology and a braking energy regeneration system.

The new BMW tri-turbo diesel engine will be available at first on the European market only, and will be gradually launched on the X6, the new 5 Series and the 7 Series.

2009 BMW X5

The 2009 BMW X5 lineup gains a new diesel model, as well as new trim-level designations. This premium midsize SUV seats up to seven and is offered in three models, each with standard all-wheel drive. The xDrive30i replaces the 3.0si and has a 260-hp 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine. The xDrive48i replaces the 4.8i and has a 350-hp 4.8-liter V8. Due in calendar 2009 is the xDrive35d, which has a 265-hp 3.0-liter turbodiesel that is emissions legal in all 50 states. All X5s come with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 6000 lb. Standard seating is for five, but an optional 3rd row expands capacity to seven.

Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. Hill descent control is standard. All X5s have BMW's iDrive that uses a single knob to control entertainment, communication, navigation, and climate functions. An optional Sport Package includes BMW's Active Roll Stabilization, which counters body lean. Active Steering, designed to quicken low-speed steering response is available when the Sport Package is ordered. Also optional are a navigation system, head-up instrument display, DVD entertainment, rearview camera with front/rear obstacle detection, heated front and rear seats, and BMW Assist concierge service with wireless cell phone link.

BMW X5 M Sport Package

Unlike arch-rival Mercedes Benz, which has an AMG variant for nearly every one of its cars, BMW has previously said it will only apply the M badge and treatment to models that suit. Although this is by no means the full M treatment, with the performance staying the same, BMW has today announced that for the first time in its nine-year history, the company’s large SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle), the BMW X5, will be available with an M Sport Package.

The changes are mostly to enhance individuality as well as further fine tune the suspension. Fro the outside, the M sport package is noticeable thanks to a unique set of body-colour front and rear bumpers, side skirts, colour-coded door protection strips and wider wheel arches to fit the 19 or 20 inch alloy wheels.

Furthermore, aluminium side window surrounds and roof rails finished in high-gloss satin chrome complete the exterior treatment. The Package is only available for cars ordered in Alpine White, Titanium Silver, Space Grey, Monaco Blue, Black Sapphire and Carbon Black. Suspension is changed for firmer damper settings as well as revised spring rates. This is fitted only when Adaptive Drive is not optioned.

The Sport Package comes with 19-inch V-spoke M light alloy wheels (style 223 M), wrapped in run-flat safety tyres sized at 255/50 R 19 at the front and 285/45 R 19 at the rear. An extra $2,648 will get you to the next level with 20-inch M light alloy wheels (style 227 M), shod with 275/40 R20 front and 315/35 R20 rear run flat safety tyres. The interior gets a treatment as well, a new M leather steering wheel will take focus, so will the finely brushed aluminium interior trims and an anthracite BMW Individual roof lining. Last but not least, electrically adjustable sport seats (comfort seats for the X5 xDrive48i) for the front row are upgraded with a memory function for the driver’s setting.

The BMW X5 M Sport Package is available for all X5 models, with different pricing:
- For the BMW X5 xDrive48i, the M Sport Package is priced from $5,400
- For the BMW xDrive30i/d/sd Executive models, the M Sport Package is priced from $8,000
- For the BMW xDrive30i/d models, the M Sport Package is priced from $11,000

This is the new big-mouthed X5 from Hartge, a firm world-renowned for its subtle tuning programmes for BMWs.

Like the Z3M Coupe or 1-Series, it's built with a whacking great 5.0-litre V8 under the bonnet.

The new car, nicknamed Road Runner, is based on the diesel X5 and features a new front spoiler, rear skirt and two-piece side sills.

A modified ECU 'performs absolute miracles', according to Hartge. By which we assume it means boosting power rather than turning diesel into wine.

The 3.0d goes up from 235bhp to 275bhp, while the torque increases from 384lb ft to 443lb ft. 0-60mph comes up in just under 7.4 seconds - a second quicker than the standard car.

A 30mm suspension drop and a set of 22-inch wheels complete the Hartge's mentalism, and if you really, must, honestly have one, it'll cost you around £60,000.

Steven Gerrard’s BMW X5 for sale

A BMW X5 previously owned by Liverpool star and possible England captain Steven Gerrard is for sale on Auto Trader. Steven Gerrard is regarded by many as one of the world’s best attacking midfielders and has formed a deadly partnership at Liverpool with Spanish hot shot Fernando Torres.

And Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is in the running to be made England’s leader under Fabio Capello – but he faces competition from Rio Ferdinand and former captains John Terry and David Beckham.

Gerrard was the first owner of this 2004 BMW X5 4.8is off-roader which he owned for six months before passing it on to fellow footballer and friend, Bolton star Kevin Nolan.

Unveiled in 2000, the BMW X5 is one of the world’s most successful 4x4s and is renowned for its popularity among footballers and celebrities.

Hamann adds some flash to the BMW X5

If you bought a BMW X5, you probably didn't do so because you wanted everyone to look at you. However, just in case you're a gawker-seeker who was somehow forced into purchasing an X5, Hamann has the kit to make sure you get all the looks you can handle.

It's called the Hamann Flash, and in case you forget its name, or if someone else wants to know what it's called, "Flash" is written on the front doors. In addition to that exterior feature, it gets new front and rear aprons, fender flares, a roof spoiler, and four choices of wheel riding on a specially-developed suspension and halted by a bespoke brake system. All powerplant options get the power boost treatment, with the 4.4-liter V8 topping the charts at 368-HP, but we think we'd go with the 3.0sd with 320-HP and 486 lb-ft. And with the custom exhaust, all versions make a sound described as "growling thunder."

Inside, the SAV gets exclusive Hamann black mat flooring, aluminum pedals, carbon fiber all over, and... well, any desire you can pay for. And thankfully, it doesn't appear that the word "Flash" appears anywhere.

One of the most successful cars of its class is the BMW X5. BMW only recently introduced its latest successor and HAMANN has already put together a complete program for the new X5. Hardly any area has been left untouched. Whether it’s suspension, wheels, performance, interior or aerodynamics, the Laupheim German specialists provide clear individualisation launching far above the norm

New aerodynamic components are mandatory hence HAMANN begins with a new front spoiler that lends the SAV X5 a significant powerful feature. Itґs mounted on the series-produced front apron. In back HAMANN added a rear apron seizing the design of the front spoiler to match. This component is also affixed to the series-produced parts. A further sporty accent shines through with the HAMANN roof spoiler, providing a stabilizing effect.

With such a large vehicle, every miniscule of power counts. For this reason, HAMANN reprogrammed the series-produced Motronic. The X5 3.0si received subsequently a power boost to about 14 PS/10kW and 25 Nm more torque. The X5 3.0d (with itґs basic 235 PS/173 kW) is raised by the tuners to 265 PS/ 195 kW and 600 Nm and 8-cylinder model 4.8i jumps by 18 PS/ 13 kW for more power and torque increase as well.

Not an easy choice!

Pondering over wheel choices will require the majority of customersґ time. Here are four designs of choice including PG3, Anniversary I and II as well as Edition Race.

By using a set of progressive suspension springs, HAMANN reduces the center of gravity for the X5 . For those vehicles that have level regulation, it is lowered to about 40 mm in front, and for vehicles without level regulation or air suspension to about 40 mm in front and about 30 mm in back. Through this, the X5 receives a bit of agility back which, in contrast to itsґ predecessor model, had suffered somewhat due to its bigger size.

Hamann BMW X5

Hamann, a German tuning powerhouse that works its magic on everything from the Mini to various Ferraris, has turned its hand to the BMW X5.

New aerodynamic parts include a huge bumper to help feed air into the engine bay, new front and rear aprons, and a small roof spoiler. The X5's 3.0si engine gets a power hike of about 14 horsepower, and the 4.8i is up by 18 hp. In Hamann's hands, the 3.0 diesel now has an output of 265 hp and 442 pound-feet of torque.

No German tuner can do without a fancy wheel combination. Hamann offers seven wheel/tire combinations. For ultimate street bling, there is a 23-inch alloy set with matching 312/25R23 tires. The suspension settings are modified to match the wheels, so the German luxury SUV will keep or even enhance its riding capability.

Naturally, the interior can also be modified to suit individual customer requirements, with aluminum foot rests, alloy pedals and swaths of leather. DVD players, video-game consoles and TV sets can also be installed.
