Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Roadster headed for the auction block

Mercedes-Benz has stuffed the market to the gills with limited and special editions of its McLaren SLR supercar, but this is one we’re sure the automotive world won’t mind. Mercedes-Benz has announced that the last SLR to ever be produced will be auctioned off for charity in the U.S.

Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR RoadsterOf course, in true SLR fashion, the last SLR Roadster to ever be produced will be a unique edition. When the last SLR rolls across the auction block, it will be the only such car in America sporting Sienna Pearl metallic paint and a Tobacco Brown interior. The Sienna Pearl SLR’s engine bay won’t be quite as unique, as it will feature the same 617 horsepower 5.5L supercharged V8 found in other SLR Roadsters.

The auction is slated to begin on November 20th at 1pm EST, with the final gavel dropping at 5pm the same day. Mercedes will open the bidding at $529,500, with any amount beyond the starting bid benefiting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

We suspect that the last SLR could creep up on the higher side of expectations as collectors tend to value the first and last editions of any production run.
